
Beneath the mizab
Pray in the righteous' place of worship

والصَّلَاةُ والسَّلاَمُ عَلَى سَيّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ أَشْرَفِ اْلمُرْسَلِيْنَ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ الطَّيّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْن
It is the component fixed atop the roof of the honoured Ka^bah above al-hatim on the northern side. The mizab measures 2.58 metres in length, of which 58 centimetres are embedded within the wall. Its width is 25 centimetres, and its height is 23 centimetres.
The Virtue of This Place and Supplicating There
Ibnu ^Abbas (may Allah accept his deeds) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Pray in the righteous' place of worship, and drink from the libation of the virtuous." They asked: "What is the place of the righteous?" He ﷺ replied: "Beneath the mizab." They asked: "And what is the drink of the virtuous?" He ﷺ said: "The water of Zamzam." This is recorded in ‘Akhbaru Makkah by Al-‘Azraqiyy. In essence, this is one of the noble places where supplications are answered, and where descending mercy is hoped for.
It is narrated that ^Uthman ibnu ^Affan (may Allah accept his deeds) once approached his companions and said: "Will you not ask me where I have just come from?" They inquired, and he replied: "I was standing at the gate of Paradise." He had been standing beneath the mizab, supplicating to Allah, as mentioned in Hidayatu s-Salik by Ibnu Jama^ah.
Mention of the mizab
It is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ when he reached the point of the mizab of the Ka^bah during tawaf, would say:
“اللهم إني أسألك الراحة عند الموت، والعفو عند الحساب”
"O Allah, I ask You for ease at the time of death and pardon during the reckoning."
On the Day of Judgement, the prophets will be asked to manifest their honour. And what is reported in Sahih Al-Bukhariyy, that they will say, "Myself, myself," except our Master Muhammad ﷺ, they do so to demonstrate the gravity of that Day between the people. However, they themselves do not fear punishment in any way, for Allah ta^ala has said:
"إن الذين سبقت لهم منّا الحسنى أولئك كانوا عنها مبعدين"
"Indeed, those for whom the ultimate favour has been decreed by Us will be kept far from it (the Hellfire)."
[Suratu l-‘Anbiyaʾ, 21:101]
And He, ta^ala, also said:
{ألا إن أولياء الله لا خوفٌ عليهم ولا هم يحزنون}
"Is it not true that the saints of Allah shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve?"
[Suratu Yunus, 10:62]
If such security, safety, protection, and safeguarding from punishment and distress are guaranteed for Allah's saints, how much more certain must it be for His prophets, upon them be peace and blessings?
^Ata ibnu ^Abi Rabah said: "Whoever stands beneath the water outlet of the Ka^bah and supplicates, his prayer will be answered, and he will emerge from his sins as though he were the day his mother bore him." This is recorded in ‘Akhbaru Makkah by Al-‘Azraqiyy.
